It is an incredible honor to support Ruben Marte's candidacy for Monroe County Sheriff in 2022. I feel privileged to know him and proud to call him friend.

Captain Marte's run for Sheriff offers Monroe County an opportunity to meet a critical moment when, on the national, state and local stage, the police/citizen relationship is strained, mistrustful and contentious. This is truly an opportunity for a change moment in a pivotal time.

His stellar career in law enforcement, with the Indiana State Police, uniquely positions him to take the helm--on day one--and begin the herculean task of strengthening relations between the police and the community.  I consider him to be a man of honor and integrity.

I humbly ask that you support my friend, Ruben Marte, by voting for him to serve as your next Monroe County Sheriff.

I have worked with Ruben Marté for several years. His character and integrity is of the highest caliber. Ruben consistently chooses to do what is right, over what is easy. Ruben is fair and treats people with equity, while maintaining a level of compassion for those in need. Ruben will make an exceptional Sheriff in our community, and is the best choice for Monroe County.

I am proud to support Ruben Marte for Monroe County Sheriff. Ruben has served our community and state for over 30 years. Through his work as Indiana State Police’s first equity and inclusion officer, he embodies the change he wants to see. Ruben isn’t afraid of progress and to make real reforms that benefit all of our citizens. I believe in his vision to improve police and community relations and redefine what it means to protect and serve in a way that best reflects our Monroe County values.

I’m so excited to support Ruben and hope you will join me.

Kaisa Goodman

Ninth District Chair of Indiana Young Democrats

Ruben is an exceptional candidate and person, and I am proud to serve as a Co-Chair for his campaign. He is well respected by people of all walks of life in our community for his integrity, thoughtfulness, cultural competency, and intelligence, and his resume is equally impressive: a Captain with the State Police who is also their first Equity and Inclusion Officer; an experienced LEO trainer in cultural awareness and deescalation; and the developer of community outreach programs to underrepresented communities throughout the state.

Ruben has a deep commitment to reducing recidivism rates among people in the criminal justice system. He understands that we need to have diversion programs, provide people with the mental health and substance use disorder treatment they need, and work with social service providers to help people successfully transition out of jail. We are so fortunate to have a Sheriff's candidate who acknowledges the challenges our community is facing and who has the experience, education, and leadership to address them.

Several years ago after meeting Captain Marte’ for the first time, I was immediately impressed not only by his strong leadership but also his enthusiastic advocacy of community policing. Ruben is someone who Is more than capable of effectively managing the complexities of public safety, while leading the men and women who are sworn to protect and serve. I wholeheartedly support Ruben Marte’ for sheriff of Monroe County and I join him in asking for your support.
